    LORI'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

    This is our families favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie. We recommend that you double the recipe because they will not last long!


    List of Ingredients


    • 2/3 cup soft shortening (part butter)
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tsp. vanilla
    • *1 1/2 cups flour
    • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 1/2 cup cut-up nuts
    • 6-oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips (about 1 1/4 cups)
    • *For a softer, more rounded cooky, use 1 3/4 cups flour


    Instructions


    1. Mix thoroughly the shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla.
    2. Sift together and stir in the flour, baking soda and salt.
    3. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts.
    4. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
    5. Bake until delicately browned - cookies should still be soft.
    6. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.
    7. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.


    Final Comments


    This will make about 3 to 4 dozen 2 inch cookies.
