    This is a recipe I've been using for 30 years.

    List of Ingredients




    2 1/2 cups scalded milk
    3 Tbsp sugar
    3 Tbsp Crisco
    1 Tbsp salt
    1 pkg yeast
    1/4 cup lukewarm water
    7 cups sifted bread flour(I use Gold Medal)

    Recipe



    Combine milk,Crisco, sugar & salt. Cool to lukewarm.
    Sprinkle yeast on lukewarm water;stir to disslove. Add yeast & 4 cups flour to milk mixture. Beat with electric mixer at medium speed until smooth, about 2 minutes. Scrape bowl occasionally. Cover & let rise 45 minutes.
    Gradually add 2 cups flour, mixing to make a soft dough. Turn onto floured surface, using remaining flour as needed to keep dough from sticking,knead dough until smooth & satiny(about 15 minutes).
    Place dough in lightly greased bowl; turn over to grease top. Cover & let rise in warm place for 20 minutes. Repeat kneading & rising once more.
    Turn dough out on floured surface. Let rest 10 minutes. Divide dough in half. Shape into loaf & place in loaf pans. Let rise until doubled about 45 minutes.
    Bake at 350 for 50 minutes. Cool on racks. Makes 2 loaves.
