    Almond Biscotti with Anise


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup whole almonds
    • 1 Tbsp. anise seeds
    • 2 cups flour
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/4 tsp. salt
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 tsp. anise extract or 1 Tbsp. anise liqueur


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
    2. Roast almonds on cookie sheet at 325 degrees F for 10 minutes.
    3. Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and almonds and anise seed.
    4. Whisk eggs and add anise flavoring, then add to flour mixture.
    5. Divide dough in half.
    6. Shape dough into two 15" oblong logs.
    7. Place on greased cookie sheet, 3" apart.
    8. Bake 40 minutes, or until golden brown.
    9. Cool on rack for 10 min.
    10. Transfer baked ovals to a cutting board and slice with a serrated knife in long diagonal slices 1/2 inch thick.
    11. Place sliced biscottis on ungreased cookie sheets.
    12. Bake for 15 minutes, turning once and rotating cookie sheets.
    13. Cool on wire racks and store in a tightly sealed container to maintain crispness.
