    Recipe Introduction

    Recipe by Carol Fenster
    Jar instructions by Marcie Dingerson

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 cup sorghum flour
    1/4 cup potato starch
    1/4 cup tapioca flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa (not Dutch)
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon xanthan gum
1/4 cup butter or margarine (room temp)
    1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1 large egg
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 cup hot water or brewed coffee
    1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

For double decadence, toss in 1 cup chocolate chips
    after the batter is mixed.

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Generously grease 8-inch square nonstick pan.

For easier removal, line with aluminum foil first, then grease.

Stir together the flours, cocoa, baking powder, salt, and xanthan gum.

    Set aside.

In large mixing bowl, beat butter, sugars, egg, and
vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until well
    combined.

With mixer on low speed, add dry ingredients and hot water or coffee.

    Mix until just blended.

    Stir in nuts, if using.

    Spread batter in prepared pan.

    Bake 20 minutes.

    Cool brownies before cutting.

    Makes 12.

Marcie's Jar Instructions: I put all dry ingredents in the jar, at times I put the brown sugar into a plastic bag and some times I don't it will be hard when you go to dump the jar, but it bounces back. But first I suggest you make one
batch and what to see if your family likes them or not
before making up jars of a mix. Would hate to see you
make 10 jars and find out no one in the family will
    eat them?
