    Recipe Introduction


    THIS RECIPE has been passed down from generation to generation.IT is a very good cake.


    List of Ingredients


    • 3/4. butter
    • 1 1/2c.sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 3c. sifted cake flour
    • 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp.salt
    • 1c. milk
    • 1/4tsp.peppermint flavoring
    • 3/4 c. peppermint stick candy(crushed fine)

    • *********************PEPPERMINT FROSTING*************************
    • 2 1/4 c.sugar
    • 1/2 tsp.cream of tarter
    • 3/4 c boiling water
    • 3 egg whites
    • 1/8 tsp.peppermint flavoring


    Instructions


    1. Cream butter and sugar,mix well.
    2. Add eggs,1 at a time ,beating well after each addition.
    3. Sift and mix dry ingredients;Add to the creamed mixture,alternately with milk,mix well.
    4. Stir in peppermint flavoring,then fold in crushed candy.
    5. Bake 375-degress for 25 minutes or until done.
    6. make 3-9-inch cake layers
    7. When completely cooled,spread with peppermint frosting,between layers and over top and side of the cake

    10. Place sugar,cream of tarter and boiling water in a large saucepan.
    11. Bring to a boil and cook without stirring until mixture can be spun into a long thread.
    12. Beat the egg whites,beating constantly
    13. Add peppermint flavoring and continue beating until stiff enough to cover cake.


    Final Comments


    making the frosting is alot like making Divinity.it take a while but well worth it!
