    Hearty Beef and Onion Stew

    List of Ingredients


    • 1-1/4 Pounds lean beef chunks
    • 1/4 Cup olive oil
    • 2 Cups sliced onions or 2 cups small pearl onions, peeled
    • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
    • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
    • 1--2 inch piece of cinnamon stick
    • 1-1/3 cups dry red wine, or same amount of apple juice
    • 1- 8 ounce can tomato sauce
    • 2-3 Bay leaves


    Instructions


    1. Put some flour into a baggie and place
      the beef chunks in and shake to cover.
    2. Brown meat in skillet until. Remove
      and set into a crockpot.
    3. Brown onions and garlic. Add these to
      the crockpot.
    4. Add all other ingredients; stir well.
      Set cooker to high until everything
      gets hot.The lower temp to low. Simmer
      for several hours until meat is very
      tender and onions are cooked.
    5. Serves 4
      Serve with a crusty bread and enjoy.
