    List of Ingredients




    1/4 cup olive oil

    1/2 cup granulated sugar

    1 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon black pepper

    2 pounds onions, thinly sliced

    1 cup dry red wine

    6 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

    2 tablespoons Grenadine (optional)

    1 baguette

    goat cheese, crumbled

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large saute pan heat oil on medium high. Add sugar, salt, black pepper and onions. Cook covered for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.

    Add wine, vinegar and grenadine. Cook for 30 minutes until thick. Slice baguette and brush with olive oil.

    Toast in oven for 6 to 8 minutes. Top toast with cooked onions and goat cheese.

    Yield: makes about 22.
