    • 1 pound pork sausage
    • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
    • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    • 2 1/3 cups cold milk
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper


    Instructions


    1. Cook sausage in butter in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring until it crumbles and is no longer pink. Whisk flour into hot meat and drippings until smooth; cook, whisking constantly, 1 minute. Whisk in cold milk and cook, whisking constantly, 5 to 7 minutes or until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
    2. Yield: 2 cups
