    Specialty bakeware gives this nostalgic flavor favorite a nontraditional new shape.


    List of Ingredients


    • 3/4 cup Pillsbury's Best All Purpose or Unbleached Flour
    • 3/4 cup gingersnap cookie crumbs
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/4 cup margarine or butter, softened
    • 2 eggs
    • 3/4 cup applesauce
    • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts


    Instructions


    1. Heat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour 8-inch fluted round cake pan. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. In small bowl, combine flour, gingersnap cookie crumbs and baking powder; set aside. In large bowl, beat sugar and margarine until light and fluffy. Add eggs; beat well. Add dry ingredients and applesauce; blend well. Stir in walnuts. Spread batter in prepared pan.
    2. Bake at 350 F. for 30 to 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; invert onto serving plate. Serve warm cut into wedges and topped with whipped cream or lemon sauce, if desired.
