    Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

    List of Ingredients




    8 slices white bread,cubed
    1/2 cup raisins
    2 cups milk
    1/4 cup margarine
    1/2 cup white sugar
    2 eggs,slightly beaten
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1/2 tsp nutmeg

    Sauce:

    1/2 cup margarine
    1/2 cup white sugar
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup whipping cream
    1 tsp vanilla extract

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together bread and raisins. Then, mix
    together milk and margarine in a saucepan. Cook mixture over medium heat until
    the margarine is melted. Then pour the milk mixture over the bread; let stand 10 minutes.
    Stir in sugar, eggs, vanilla and nutmeg. Pour into a greased 1-1/2 quart casserole dish and bake 40 to 50 minutes, or until center is set.

    Mix together all of the sauce ingredients, except vanilla, in a saucepan. Cook the mixture over medium heat; stir occasionally, until mixture comes to a full boil, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla. Spoon the warm sauce over warm pudding and serve.
