Prep time is approximately 5 minutes.

    List of Ingredients

    • 2-1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
    • 1 cup whole wheat flour
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 3 tablespoons honey
    • 1 tablespoon and 1-1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil
    • 1-1/4 cup water
    • 5 Tablespoons buttermilk powder

    Instructions

    1. Add liquids to pan of bread machine: honey, oil, water.
    2. Add to pan: both flours, baking soda, salt, buttermilk powder.
    3. If baking in bread machine, use medium temperature setting.
    4. If baking in oven, use manual or dough cycle to knead dough. Let rise in machine pan.
    5. Remove from bread maker and place in greased loaf pan. Let rise again until doubled.
    6. Bake in preheated 350 degree F oven for 25 minutes, or until loaf sounds hollow when tapped.

    Final Comments

Buttermilk can be substituted. Use 1-1/2 cups buttermilk in place of water and buttermilk powder.

For rolls: add 1/4 cup more whole wheat flour to recipe. Form dough into 15 2-inch balls and place close together on greased baking sheet. Let rise approx. 30 minutes until nearly doubled. Bake at 350 for 12 minutes.
