    Brownie Shortbread

    Recipe Introduction


    From Woman's Day.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine, room temperature
    • 1 cup flour
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • Brownie Layer:
    • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine, room temperature
    • 3 squares unsweetened chocolate
    • 2 large eggs
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 3 tbsp. flour
    • 1/2 tsp. baking powder


    Instructions


    1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and 11 X 7 inch baking pan.

    2. In food processor or with electric mixer, process or beat the butter, flour and sugar until mixture holds together and forms a dough. Press over bottom of pan.

    3. Bake 20 minutes or until light golden and firm when touched.

    4. Brownie Layer: Heat butter and chocolate in microwave until melted. Stir.

    5. In a medium bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, flur and baking powder until blended. Whisk in chocolate mixture. Pour over shortbread base.

    6. Bake 20 minutes or until top feels firm.

    7. Cool in pan before cutting into bars.
