    Oatmeal Marble Squares

Another favorite recipe, adapted from the Toll House Hedritage Cookbook: A Collection of Favorite Desert Recipes.

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 cups flour
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1 cup butter/margerine, softened
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
    • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
    • 2 eggs
    • 3 cups oatmeal
    • 2 cups chocolate chips

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. In a bowl, combine flour and baking soda.
    3. In a large bowl, combine butter/margerine, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract; beat until creamy.
    4. Beat in egg.
    5. Blend in flour mixture.
    6. Stir in oatmeal.
    7. Spread into large greased cookie sheet. I find that it is helpful to distribute spoonfuls of dough around cookie sheet and cover with wax paper. Use your hands to press down on the wax paper, to distribute the dough on the pan more evenly.
    8. Sprinkle 2 cups of chocolate chips over top of dough. Place in oven for 3 minutes.
    9. Run a knife through the chocolate to marbelize.
    10. Bake for 12-15 more minutes.
    11. Cool before cutting into squares.
