    Calumet Buttermilk Biscuits

    Source of Recipe

    Calumet Baking Powder Company

    Recipe Introduction

You can also use this biscuit dough to top pot pies.

    List of Ingredients

    1 3/4 Cups Sifted All-purpose Flour
    3 Teaspoons Baking Powder
    1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda
    3/4 Teaspoon Salt
    1/3 Cup Shortening
    3/4 Cup Buttermilk

    Recipe

Mix together all dry ingredients. Cut in shortening, using a pastry blender, until mixture resembles corn meal.

Add milk to above and stir with fork until soft dough is formed. Knead lightly on a floured pastry sheet about one-half minute. Roll dough one-half inch thick and cut with a floured 2-inch biscuit cutter.

Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake in a hot oven (450 degrees) for 10 to 12 minutes.

I have found that after you bake the biscuits, you can place them in freezer bags and freeze them. Just throw in microwave and reheat.

YIELD: Approximately 16 golden wonderful biscuits!
