    Easy Pan Yeast Rolls

    Source of Recipe

    ???

    List of Ingredients

    1 Pkg. Dry Yeast
    1 Teaspoon Sugar
    1/4 Cup Lukewarm Water
    1 Egg, beaten
     Cup Melted Shortening/Butter
    1 1/2 Teaspoons Salt
     Cup Sugar
    2 Cups Lukewarm Water
    7 Cups All-purpose Flour
    Shortening (to grease bowl)
    2 Tablespoons Butter, melted

    Recipe

In a large bowl combine yeast, 1 teaspoon sugar and 1/4 cup lukewarm water; stir to dissolve yeast. Set mixture aside until it is foamy, about 5 minutes.

Add egg, melted shortening, salt, sugar, lukewarm water and 2 cups flour to yeast mixture. Beat at medium speed with electric mixer for two minutes. Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic.

Grease a large crock bowl. Put dough in bowl and turn to coat all sides. Cover with a slightly damp cloth and set in a warm place until dough rises and is double in bulk.

Punch dough down. Shape into balls about the size of golf balls. Place balls in two greased pans, dividing evenly between the two pans. Cover with a damp cloth and place in a warm spot until dough is almost double in bulk.

Bake in a preheated 375 degrees oven until rolls are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on bottom of loaf (about 40 minutes). Remove rolls from pan and set on a rack. Brush melted butter over top of rolls to give them a shine.

YIELD: 2 Round Loaves of Pan Rolls
