    My sister Sandy

    Recipe Introduction

One of our winter favorites! My sister Sandy gave me this recipe years ago and I have been making it regularly ever since.

    List of Ingredients

1 16 oz. bag dried Peas or Great Northern Beans
    6 C. Water
    5 Chicken Bouillon cubes
    2 Carrots
    1 Onion
    2 Celery stalks
1 medium Green Bell Pepper (all veg. chopped fine)
    1/2 t. Basil
    1/2 t. Oregano
3/4 lb. Honey Cured or Virginia Baked Ham (chopped fine)
2 cloves minced Garlic (add last 1/2 hour)

    Recipe

Soak peas or beans in generous amount of water over night. In the morning drain water and rinse. Then in large pot add 6 c. water to peas or beans, bring to boil, skim off foam and reduce heat. Add all other ingrediants except garlic. Bring to boil, then reduce to simmer. Simmer 5-6 hours, may have to add a little water later. Stir occasionally. 1/2 hour before serving add garlic. Garnish with cheddar cheese and or croutons if deisred, when serving.

    Number Of Servings: 5-6

    Preparation Time: 25 min.
