    List of Ingredients




    1 onion, chopped
    2-3 cloves garlic, minced
    olive oil

    Brown the onion and garlic in olive oil.

    Add to onion mixture:

    1 (20 oz) can tomato puree (I use Red Pack)
    1 (20 oz. can) crushed tomatoes
    1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste

    Add herbs: (I don't like oregano, but most people do, so use what you
    like.)

    1 Tbsp. each basil and parsley
    1 tsp. oregano
    1 - 2 bay leaves

    a pinch (about 1/8th tsp.) baking soda (this cuts acidity in the sauce)
    2 - 3 Tbsps. sugar (depending on whether you like sauce on the sweet
    side, tase to be sure)
    1/4 cup red wine (dry or sweet, doesn't matter)

    Optional:

    1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
    1/4 cup grated Romano or Parmesan cheese

    then add whatever meat desired. Meatballs, Italian sausage, porkchops,
    chicken or pepperoni chunks. Be aware that
    once you add meat, your sauce will get a little greasy. I precook all
    meat before adding to the sauce and absorb excess
    grease with paper towels before adding the meat to the sauce.
