Genia's 5-Way Cr�me Pie

Recipe Introduction
A great basic creme pie recipe. Try adding your own flavor.
List of Ingredients
Vanilla:
� cup sugar
1/3-cup all-purpose flour
� teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
3 slightly beaten egg yolks
2 tablespoons butter
1-teaspoon vanilla
9� baked pie shell
Meringue Topping:
3 egg whites
� teaspoon vanilla
� teaspoon cream of tater
6-tablespoon sugar
Recipe
Vanilla:
In saucepan combine sugar, flour and salt. Gradually add milk, mix well. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture thickens and boils. Cook 2 minutes more, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. Pour into cooled pastry shell. Spread with meringue topping and bake 12-15 minutes. Cool.
Meringue Topping:
Beat whites with vanilla and tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form and all sugar is dissolved. Spread atop pie, �sealing� edges to pastry shell. Bake 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees or until golden.
Chocolate:
Increase sugar to 1 cup. Chop 2oz unsweetened chocolate; add with milk; continue on with recipe
Banana:
Slice 3 bananas into pastry shell, then top with vanilla cr�me pie
Butterscotch:
Substitute brown sugar for regular sugar and increase butter to 3 tablespoon, continue on
Coconut:
Add 1 cup flaked coconut to vanilla cr�me pie filling; continue on; sprinkle coconut on top of meringue; continue on.
