2 tablespoons shortening
21/2 pounds beef, cut in 1 inch cubes
21/2 cups water
1 cup minced onion
2 teaspoons salt
1 small head cabbage, wedged
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon vinegar
1/8 teaspoon celery salt
8 potatoes, cut in fourths
8 carrots, cut in halves, length�wise
Recipe
Melt shortening and brown meat in large heavy kettle. Add water, onion, salt, pepper, vine�gar and celery salt. Cover and cook until meat is nearly done. Add potatoes, carrots and addi�tional liquid if necessary. Put cabbage on top to serve separate�ly. Cover and cook until vege�tables are tender.
