Recipe Introduction
This is a really nice and tasty cake. And, what's also important, looks very beautiful. You can add raisins if you like them.
List of Ingredients
2 apples such as Braeburn
250g (9oz) self-raising flour
10 ml (2tsp) baking powder
7.5ml (1 1/2 tsp) ground cinnamon
125g (4 1/2 oz) caster sugar
60ml (4tbsp) melted butter
2 medium eggs, beaten
150ml (1/4 pint) milk
15ml (1tbsp) demerara sugarRecipe
Preheat the oven to 190C, 375F. Grease a 20cm (8") round tin. Peel, core and finaly chop or grate ONE apple. Sift the flour, baking powder and 5ml (1tsp) into a mixing bowl and stir in the sugar and apple. Reserve 15ml (1tbsp) butter and beat the rest with the eggs and milk. Spoon this mixture into a tin and smooth the surface. Slice the remaining apple and arrange over the top to resemble a flower. Brush with the reserved butter and sprinkle with demerara and remaining cinnamon. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until the cake is well-risen, golden brown. Cool.
Enjoy!
