    Cake
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda

    Filling
    1 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs

    1st Topping
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 tsp. vanilla

    2nd Topping
    1 cup sugar
    1/4 cup water
    1/2 cup butter
    1 tablespoon vanilla

    Recipe



    Grease bottom only of tube pan. Mix cake ingredients, best to sift and mix.
    Cream in large bowl filling ingredients, adding eggs one at a time.
    Add to the creamed butter mixture, alternating, flour mixture, make this first and last, then the buttermilk mixture.
    Blend well on low in mixer.
    Bake at 325 degrees for 65 minutes or more.
    Test with toothpick.
    Mix on top of stove, heat 2nd topping ingredients slowing until dissolved.
    Pour over hot cake which is still in the pan and top has been pricked with a fork.
    Let cool completely in the pan.
    Best if cake stands in the pan overnight.
    Freezes well.
