    "Sweetened Condensed Milk" from Splenda

    Sweetened condensed milk

In a 2 cup microwave safe glass measuring cup, combine 1/2 cup water and 1 1/3 cups Carnation Nonfat Dry Milk Powder until it makes a smooth paste.

Cover (leave corner open for venting) and microwave on High for 45 to 60 seconds or just until mixture is very hot BUT NOT TO THE BOILING point. Remove and stir in 1/2 cup Splenda Granular. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before using. This will keep for 2 weeks in refrigerator. It makes the equivalent of one (12 oz.) can of commercial brand.

I have made this using Splenda and made a lemon pie with it which was very good; however, it seemed that I did not have that much (12 or 14 oz.) after it made (had to make more) so I thought my pie ended up being very high carbohydrate.

    Splenda: 24 g. carbs in 1 cup

Carnation Instant Nonfat Dry Milk: 12 g. carbs in 1/3 cup
