List of Ingredients
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) softened butter
 1/4 cup shortening
 3/4 cup sugar
 2 eggs
 31/4 cups flour
 7 teaspoons baking powder
 1/4 teaspoon salt
 1 tablespoon anise extract
 2/3 cup light cream
Recipe
Combine the softened butter and the shortening with the sugar in a mixing bowl, and beat until smooth. Add the eggs, and beat to blend.
In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking powder, salt and blend with a whisk. Add to the butter mixture along with the anise and cream, and beat until just blended.
Form the dough into generous teaspoon-size balls, place on cookie sheet several inches apart, flatten slightly with the palm of your hand, and bake in a preheated 375-degree oven for about 15 minutes.
When cookies have cooled, apply frosting. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
