    Penne Pasta w/Meat Sauce Peperonata

    3/4 pound lean ground beef
    1/2 cup finely chopped onion
    3 1/2 cups chopped or diced tomatoes, (28 ounces)
    1 3/4 cups tomato sauce, (15 ounces)
    1, 7 ounce jar roasted red peppers,
    ...drained + chopped
    1 teaspoon dried basil
    1 teaspoon dried oregano
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    salt and ground black pepper to taste
    2 2/3 cups penne pasta, cooked al dente to
    ...package directions and drained
    2 Tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

    Cook meat and onion together in a large skillet over
    a medium heat for 3 minutes or until meat is brown
    and onion is tender. Add tomato, tomato sauce, red
    pepper, basil, oregano, garlic, salt and pepper.
    Heat to boiling. Toss hot pasta and sauce together.
    Sprinkle with cheese. Make 5 servings.
