Hot Fudge Sauce

4 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate
1/4 c water
1/4 c. sugar
4 tbsp. unsalted butter
pinch salt
1/3 c. corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla extractRecipe
Combine the chocolate, water, sugar, butter, and salt in a saucepan over a very low heat.
Stir until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
Stir in the corn syrup and bring to a boil over a moderate heat.
Reduce the heat to low and cook for 5 - 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture is thick and shiny.
Stir in the vanilla and serve warm.
May be refrigerated for several weeks.
Warm in a double boiler or microwave oven before serving.
Makes about 1 1/2 cups or 8 - 12 servings.
