Easy Oven Browned Potatoes

6 cans (whole) white potatoes, drained (I used 5; I also rinsed them)
1 packet onion soup mix(or dry flavor of your choice, such as dry ranch party mix)
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, melted (I used Land O'Lakes Light Butter, which is half the fat/calories of regular)
garlic powder

Preheat oven to 350�F. In large mixing bowl, place potatoes, onion soup mix, sprinkle with garlic powder and peper to suit your taste. Pour on melted butter and toss to evenly coat potatoes. Place in a greased baking dish. Bake at 350�F until crisp and nicely browned.
Posted by: arelabs: I swear to you I would be the last person to use canned potatoes!!!! I had something similar to these a couple of times at a neighborhood place that caters small parties, and I thought they were good, but they weren't browned and crispy like these.
So, I found this recipe and finally tried it, although reluctantly. I cannot tell you how surprised I was. These are delicious. You'd never know you're eating canned potatoes!
Here's the recipe and my notes on how I made them. Unbelievable! I made these in my 6-quart Nesco roaster, and turned them up higher to get them brown and crisp quicker. This takes a little while.
I promise, you will be surprised at how good these are for (ewwwwww) canned potatoes. Arlene
