    450g (1lb) Flour
    225g (8oz) Shredded Beef or Vegetarian Suet
    110-170g (4-6oz) Raisins
    2 tsp Baking Powder
    tsp Salt
    Light Brown Sugar


    Pre-heat oven to 180C: 350F: Gas 4.
    Mix the suet, flour, salt and baking powder together in a bowl.
    Gradually add enough water to produce a fairly dry but elastic dough.
    Turn out on to a floured surface, knead lightly.
    Roll out to thickness of about inch.
    Sprinkle with raisins, pressing lightly with the rolling pin.
    Cut into four square, cross with a knife, brush with milk and sprinkle over sugar.
    Knead lightly, then roll out to about " thickness.
    Bake for about 30 minutes.
    Serve hot.
