    This bread has won many blue ribbons at the Utah State Fair!

    List of Ingredients




    1/2 C. shortening
    1 C. sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 C. milk
    1 3/4 C. flour
    1/4 t. salt
    1 t. baking powder
    1/2 C. ch. nuts
    rind from lemon
    juice from 1 lemon
    1/4 C. sugar

    Recipe



    Cream together the shortening and sugar. Add the eggs.
    Mix the flour, salt, and b. powder and add alternately with the milk. Mix well.
    Add in the nuts and grated rind from a lemon.

    Bake 1 hour at 325' but, check after 45 minutes.
    Remove from oven.
    Squeeze juice from 1 lemon and mix with the 1/4 C. sugar.
    Pierce bread with a fork while hot out of the oven and then pour this juice all over the bread, let it seep down the sides and all.
