    Polynesian Satay

    List of Ingredients

    1 1/2 lb.Thick sirloin steak
    3/4 cup Soy sauce
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. cooking oil
1/4 tsp. garlic powder (or 1 clove, minced)
    1/2 tsp. ginger powder

Wooden skewers (soaked in water to prevent scorching)

    Recipe

Slice steak about 1/8 inch thick to make long thin slices.
Easier to slice if meat is partially frozen.

In bowl, with tight-fitting cover, mix soy sauce, sugar,
oil, garlic powder and ginger powder. Put meat in bowl.
Press down to cover with marinade. Allow to marinate for
    at least 1/2 hour.

Thread meat on skewers accordion-fashion. Broil only
until medium-rare. Store, covered in refrigerator.
To serve, pile on baking sheet. Heat in 400 degreeF
oven for about 5 minutes or until hot. Serves 12.

Meat can also be sliced thinly and cut in squares. Broil 1 layer deep, on 1 side only until med-rare and sizzling.
To serve, heat in a covered casserole in 350 degreeF oven for about 20 minutes. Serve with picks.

Note: Peanut Sauce is often poored over satay before serving. Recipe in sauces section

SATAY WITH PINEAPPLE: Thread 2 marinated and broiled meat squares on pick with pineapple chunk in between. Bake as above. My favourite way.
