    This is a Zaar recipe that I adopted. I hope to make this soon as I think it's a recipe that my family would enjoy. I'll edit the recipe accordingly if needed.
    SERVES 10 (change servings and units)

    Ingredients
    2 cups flour, all purpose
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/3 cup butter, chilled
    1 egg
    1/2 cup buttermilk
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    Directions
    1In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
    2With a pastry blender or two knives cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    3In separate bowl, combine egg, buttermilk and vanilla.
    4Using fork, stir into dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
    5Gather into ball.
    6Turn out onto lightly floured surface; knead lightly 10 times.
    7With lightly floured hands, pat dough in 1/2 in thick round.
    8Using 2 1/2 in.
    9cookie cutter, cut dough into rounds, gathering scraps together until dough is all used up.
    10Place rounds on lightly greased baking sheet.
    11Bake in 425F (220C) oven 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown and risen.
    12Let cool on wire racks.
    13Serve warm.
