    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 1/2 cups flour
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
    • 3/4 cup candied fruit mix
    • 1/4 cup raisins
    • LEMON GLAZE:
    • 1/4 cup sifted icing sugar
    • 1 tsp water
    • 1/2 tsp lemon juice


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 325F and line a 9" square pan with waxed paper, grease the paper and sides of the pan.
    2. Blend the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    3. Add vanilla and eggs, beat thoroughly.
    4. Gradually add sifted dry ingredients.
    5. Stir in the fruit.
    6. Spread in prepared pan and bake in moderate oven for 25 - 30 minutes.
    7. Cool slightly, turn out on rack and peel off paper.
    8. Turn right side up and brush with glaze, cool and cut in squares.


    Final Comments


    Makes 24 bars.
