    Granny Chicken and Dumplings

    List of Ingredients




    In a large pot, stew a whole chicken with spices, (1/2 tsp marjoram, sage, poultry seasoning, and whatever else you like in chicken broth). Remove chicken when done and take meat from bones.
    Strain the chicken broth to remove the �icky� stuff and set aside.
    To make what my Grandmother called dumplings (but other people call noodles)
    4 cups flour sifted
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 egg
    milk to make dough

    Mix and knead, roll out on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into squares.
    Drop squares into the broth, which you have brought to a gentle boil. When dumplings are done, add the chicken, and milk (1/4 to � cup) to make gravy.
