    French Toast: Caramel French Toast

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup packed brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup or maple syrup
    • 12 slices white or whole wheat bread
    • 1/4 cup white sugar
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, divided
    • 6 eggs, beaten
    • 1 1/2 cups milk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla


    Instructions


    1. Lightly grease a 13x9x2" baking dish; set aside.

    2. Bring brown sugar, syrup and butter to a boil.

    3. Remove from heat and pour into baking dish.

    4. Top with 6 slices of bread and sprinkle with combined sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.

    5. Top with remaining bread.

    6. Beat eggs, milk, vanilla and remaining cinnamon and pour over bread.

    7. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

    8. Remove dish from refrigerator, uncover and bake in preheated oven at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden.

    9. Sprinkle with powdered sugar when serving, if desired.

    10. Makes 4 to 6 servings
