Apple Dumplings the Easy Way

2 cans crescent rolls 1 16 oz bag frozen apples or three fresh apples peeled & chopped 1 1/4 sticks butter 1 1/4 cups sugar pinch of salt 1/2 tsp vanilla powdered cinnamon 8-12 oz 7-up or Sprite (not diet) optional: ice cream or whipped cream
Preheat oven 350 degrees. Spray pan (about 9 by 12) with cooking spray. Start separating dough, put some chopped apples on each triangle and roll up, starting with the small point, and being careful to seal all around apples. Place each one in pan seam side down. Melt butter, add sugar and stir til sugar melts, add salt and vanilla. Sprinkle cinnamon over rolls to tast, then spoon sugar mixture over rolls. Pour 7-up over rolls, without stirring. Bake 35 minutes. Makes 16 servings.
